US company Praxis Works recently launched a 10 speed MTB cassette, to meet industry demand for a wider ratio that doesn’t require a step up conversion, and keeps a smooth shift. The company has used a mix of steel and 7075-T6 hard anodised aluminium to make sure the cassette isn’t just a weight doorstop. The weight comes in at 322g, so that’s quite competitive. Steel is used on the smaller cogs, and the alloy on the larger ones. The tooth range avoids the big gap that step up conversions can create

The cassette is designed to work with both SRAM and Shimano mid or long cage derailleurs, but not the short cage models.
While 1×11 is a great way to simplify the drivetrains of bikes, there are countless excellent bikes out there with group sets that are 10 speed. This is a very good value option to create a smooth shifting wider range 1×10 drive train, or a wider range 2×10 option.
The cassette is expected to be available in Australia in June, and should retail for $180. For more details contact Dawson Sports Group.
