DT Swiss have unleashed the new FR 541 rim to the mountain bike world. The Swiss have designed a rim that will be stronger than anything they have designed before, while offering better pinch flat protection as well.

The shape has changed, being closer to that of the EX 511. The design slightly drops the height of the rim edge and means there is more material where it needs to be.

The dark grey is the new FR 541.

Under testing, the FR 541 has a 17% increase in pinch flat protection, when compated to the older FR 560 rim. The edge is also wider.

The rim is available in 28 or 32 hole models, in 27.5" and 29" sizes.

To help make it the strongest rim out there, DT Swiss weld the rim join.

Stronger wheel builds

A strong rim is a key part of a strong wheel build, but it's not the only consideration. Even spoke tension is essential, and the DT Swiss Pro Head Reinforcement (PHR) design allows more surface area with the nipple to rim.

This really helps ensure even tension for a strong wheel build.

PHR washers and DT Swiss nipples are required.

There are also options to customise your rims with 4 different colours for the decals. Red comes stock, but silver, gold are black are provided if you want to change them.

We've heard that a number of DT Swiss riders have been on the FR 541 for a number of months, and we're looking forward to getting a tester on a setup ourselves. In the meantime, get in touch with your local DT Swiss dealer or DT Swiss Australia for specifics and availability.
