Surly gets spooky with the new Sorceress
Surly’s latest steel hardtail blends aggressive trail geometry with bikepacking versatility—and a whole lot of personality.
Ever thought you wanted a little bit more ‘metal’ in your trail bike? Not in terms of alloy or steel – but the vibe or aesthetic? Perhaps on your weekend you have to oscillate between forest goblin and mountain biker – but with the new Surly Sorceress, you can combine both.
The new Sorceress is Surly’s latest drop – an aggressive steel hardtail that is based around a 140mm fork (but can extend to 150mm for bigger sends), a new shapeshifter ‘DUH’ dropout that can run UDH, Full-Mount and singlespeed drivetrains, and enough mounts in the frame to take you from sketchy bike-park runs to bike packing.

Based around a 4131 Chromoly steel frame, the Sorceress will be available as a frame of complete bike, and all sizes roll on 29” wheels aside from XS, featuring 27.5”, with all frames allowing clearance for up to 2.6” tyres and can facilitate an internally routed dropper.

Geometry-wise the Sorceress features oodles of standover clearance, size medium features a 462.8mm reach – so slightly on the long side – with a 65º head tube angle and 75º seat tube angle, making it a prime candidate for off-piste adventures. A short and snappy 429mm chainstay length across sizes S–XL promises the Sorceress will be a fun and responsive ride.

If your life motto is ‘Crows before Bros’ then perhaps this new drop is exactly what you need. Bikes and frames are landing in your LBS in May (check with your LBS for pricing).
