Europcar Australia has made travelling with bikes even easier with the introduction of their new ‘bike-ready’ category, becoming the nation’s first car rental provider to offer a category of vehicles fitted with bike carriers.
Mike Warmington, Sales and Marketing Director for Europcar Australia/New Zealand, said the new category of vehicles would suit both recreational riders and professional athletes.
“The challenge from customers and the cycling community was to create a safe and convenient solution for travelling with bikes,” Mike said. “The bike carriers offer more freedom and flexibility. Customers no longer have to worry about disassembling their bike to fit it in the back of the car. This new category of vehicles builds on our commitment to the cycling community and provides customers with simple and diversified travel solutions,” Mike said.
Because the versatile Thule ProRide can carry both mountain and road bikes, this new feature will cater perfectly to cyclists, triathletes and mountain bike riders looking to travel with their favourite set of wheels.
“The decision of what bike carrier to go with was an easy one, continued Warmington, “Thule is the world leader in gear transport solutions and Australia’s most trusted brand of bike carrier.”
Of being called-on to support Europcar’s new activation, Thule Australia’s National Marketing Manager, Scott Randall Smith said, “From Cairns to Albany, we attend dozens of events a year where we’re often asked if we know of anyone offering a car rental for cyclists who travel with their bikes. So this has been on our radar for some time. Obviously, it’s been on Europcar’s as well. So we’re ecstatic that we can assist Europcar in furthering their ongoing support of adventure travel. It’s a perfect fit as far as we’re concerned.”
The new category will feature 2014 Mitsubishi Outlanders fitted with Thule ProRide carriers and made available at five airport locations including: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Coolangatta and Maroochydore from June 16th, with a vision to expand to other major centres across Australia by the end of 2014.
Each vehicle comes with comprehensive instructions, a one page disclosure statement and safety reminders about vehicle clearance heights.
