MORVELO

Morvelo is a funky UK cycling clothing company supporting all things riding – from City Cross to brewery rides and events where a stylish hoodie is essential.

Here we look at the Flowline Women’s Jersey and Skye Women’s Bib Shorts. Both  are feminine and top class.

Rolling in the kit I found the arm grippers on the Flowline Jersey kept the pink sleeve neatly stuck in place over my arms accessories or on bare arms. I seem to carry “stuff” with me, so the tight and well sized pockets including one with a valuables zip was a big plus for me.  The entire cut was nicely snug for the female shape yet didn’t ride up at the back.

With all the recent road accidents and anti cycling banter, I am very conscious of being seen, this bright and eye catching design was comforting to wear on the road. And let’s face it, you always end up riding on a bit of road somewhere. My final tick for the Flowline was the full zip, essential when running bibs.

Unfortunately this awesome, striped jersey design really needs plain shorts, arm warmers and vest to compliment the Morvelo style. And the colour scheme isn’t for everyone; but I liked it.

Moving onto the Skye Shorts, the first thing I noticed was the polka dots on these bib shorts. Amazing, something I have never seen. I also like the subtle reflective tape on the back – standard on all good bibs.

The Power Lycra in the bibs creates a snug compression fit, easing muscle fatigue and wearing well over time to avoid the “saggy nappy syndrome”. I was impressed by the super dooper perforated dual layer chamois which has been created from 2 levels of high density memory foam. After a long ride you can feel the difference.  On both the MTB and roadie I was happy how they felt and cushioned me on the bumps and over time. Admittedly I didn’t test them for longer than 4hrs, but they seem built for it.

Again, as the Skye Shorts are a busy design you really need a plain jersey to pair with them otherwise it “looks like you got dressed in the dark” – this is a direct quote from a fellow rider when I wore both the Morvelo items together.  The Morvelo Daze Jersey would also be a great choice to pair with.

Generally I’m not a fan of bibs, purely for the hassle factor when trying to pull off a mid ride toilet stop, although with the bib in the centre of your chest, as opposed to the sides there is no chance of a strap sliding off your shoulder or cutting where it shouldn’t.

Overall I was really impressed by the Morvelo kit, this was the first time I have been lucky enough to wear Morvelo and I would happily use it again.
