Giro XAR

“Giro have released a new helmet, the Xar, aimed at all trail riding (previously known as mountain biking). It has a little more coverage than some helmets, but still has 17 big vents and the well regarded Roc Loc 5 retention system. The visor is adjustable and it comes in three sizes – so getting a helmet to fit like your hair, and not have it interfere with your vision should be easy.

It does have the straps porting from further out on the shell, which can interfere with pedants who are concerned with running their eyewear over the helmet straps (in accordance with The Rules set by the Velominati) but this is far from critical.

We’ll be getting the helmet in four colours on our shores: Matt Black and Grey, Matt Titanium and White, and a stunning Matt Blue! They are available in small, medium and large, so getting the right fit should be easy. Head into your local Giro dealer and try one on for size.

In use it has stayed in place, but has not yet been crash tested. Thankfully. A full review will be in Issue 141, out in early April.”
