RockShox Updates the Vivid for More Grip and Control

RockShox new Vivid offerings exponentially increase bike compatibility

Alongside the new BoXXer update, RockShox has also made a series of meaningful internal changes to the Vivid shock aimed squarely at bringing the shock’s ride feel into line with its flagship downhill fork.

The headline change is a redesigned reservoir, with revised oil flow paths and a significantly lower IFP pressure. Thanks to updated internal architecture, RockShox has dropped IFP pressure from 200psi to 120psi, reducing the breakaway force required to get the shock moving. In practice, that should translate to improved small-bump sensitivity and a more planted feel off the top, particularly in high-speed, low-grip terrain.

The Vivid also features an updated tune and RockShox says the low-speed compression circuit now behaves more like a mid-speed control, with adjustments affecting a broader range of shaft speeds than before.

Beyond that, changes are largely refining and evolving rather than rebuilding the Vivid from the bottom up. The hydraulic bottom-out system remains, ABO (Adjustable Bottom Out) which comes to life in the final 20% of travel. The compression dial has also been updated, now featuring clear numbering, making it easier to track settings and return to a known baseline between runs.

The Ultimate DH version drops the lockout entirely, instead offering six compression tunes and two rebound tunes, keeping things simple and race-focused.
