Specialized has unveiled its new Grid Gravity Radial tyre range, bringing a fresh approach to trail grip and compliance through a redesigned casing construction aimed squarely at riders tackling natural, technical terrain.

The launch includes two models — the Butcher Grid Gravity Radial T9 TLR and Eliminator Grid Gravity Radial T7/T9 TLR, both available in 29” and 27.5” × 2.4” options. Rather than reinventing the tyre entirely, Specialized has refined its proven bias-ply construction by increasing the casing thread angle beyond the traditional 45–50° range to a tuned 70° ‘sweet spot’.

The result is a claimed 30% reduction in radial stiffness, allowing the tyre to better conform to trail surfaces and significantly increase ground contact – delivering more grip, improved vibration damping, and enhanced control without requiring riders to lower tyre pressure. Crucially, lateral stiffness drops by only 7%, maintaining the cornering support and steering precision aggressive trail riders expect.

The new Grid Gravity Radial casing increases the tyre’s footprint by roughly 30%, translating to a more supple and predictable ride feel while retaining familiar setup habits. Riders can run their usual PSI while benefiting from greater traction and comfort on rough, technical trails.

Designed primarily for trail riders seeking maximum grip and terrain feedback, Specialized notes that riders focused on bike-park laps, downhill racing, or those preferring a firmer, high-impact supported feel may still favour the standard Grid Gravity casing.

With the new Grid Gravity Radial lineup, Specialized aims to deliver a tyre that feels smoother, more controlled, and relentlessly grippy – without changing how riders set up their bikes.
