Troy Lee Designs Skyline Range
TLD Skyline shorts
TLD Skyline shorts
Troy Lee Designs have long been a favourite in the mountain bike scene with their comprehensive catalogue of apparel covering the more extreme aspects of the sport. Partially because of this association it’s easy to overlook their range in their other areas. The Troy Lee Designs ‘Skyline’ range caters for trail riders, Enduro riders and XC riders who aren’t fans of the full Lycra ensemble.
The Skyline shorts offer a knee length fit (with trimable bottom hem for those wanting a slightly above the knee fit). In standard length the shorts offer good fit and if used with knee pads show no unsightly gap between the top of your pads and the bottom of your shorts.
The 2” incremented sizes have Velcro side adjusters to offer perfect fit and a high back (complete with zip pocket) to avoid any embarrassing bum crack issues!
Deep twin front pockets provide secure storage for phones and beer money while the rear pocket secures your keys. The skyline short does not include an inner chamois short, which is something I like as I chose to wear separate chamois shorts underneath.
TLD uses a light weight, easy dry, four way stretch fabric which provides just the right amount of fit and stretch and minimises loose material being caught on your seat when sliding off the back on steep descents. The Skyline comes in a wide range of colours, from the garish day glow orange, right down to this seasons new black, black.
I’ve been running a few pairs of Skylines and they have proved to be very durable without being bulky, the quick dry aspect of the material is a real bonus both for after ride beers and quick laundry turnarounds.
TLD Skyline jersey
As with the shorts, the Skyline jersey is also aimed at the trail and Enduro riding scene. A loose fit, short ‘Raglan’ sleave garment made from highly breathable and moisture wicking polyester mesh material with sublimated print. The ‘Easy Entry’ neck survives stretching and provides a snug and comfortable fit while the zipped rear pocket holds a bit of kit if you chose to use it.
A full complement of colours to mix and match with the shorts is available for those of a image importance persuasion as well as plainer black or white choices.
My Skyline jersey shows no signs of wear from back pack wearing and is still the same shape it was fresh out of the pack despite its frequent use and my ‘don’t bother to read the label’ laundry technique.
TLD Air gloves
The Air gloves are also of the lightweight trail riding design of the Skyline range. Featuring a lightweight Lycra Spandex construction with a vented single layer Clarino synthetic leather palm and some traction improving silicone graphics on the contact points for secure operation of your shifters, brakes and dropper post. The breathable Airprene cuff and secure Velcro wrist closures provide secure and dry fitting
Troy Lee Designs offer a full range of riding and après riding gear and are now proudly distributed through Lusty Industries to your local bike shop.
