Norco bring the ride quality and suspension of their top trail bikes to a much lower price with the new Fluid FS.
The Norco Fluid FS has always provided a great value full-suspension package in the Norco mountain bike range. But for 2019, Norco revamped the bikes, adding the ride characteristics and handling you expect from a modern mountain bike, but at prices that won't break the bank.
The ally framed full-suspension trail bike comes in two wheel sizes, depending on size. With XS-S frames having 27.5" wheels, and M-XL frames running 29" wheels. The frames and forks use Boost spacing, and the frames use size specific tubing. That means the XS frame doesn't have the same frame tubing thickness as a larger size where it's not needed.
The bikes have 130mm up front and 120mm out back, with a very in vogue 66.5 degree head angle (66 on the 27.5" bikes) and steep seat angles (76 degrees) to keep you centred when pointed up hill. The back ends are 429mm, and a little longer on the 27.5". All up, the geometry is designed to place the rider in a very centred position, for greater confidence when tackling trails.
The frames have internal routing for a clean look, and are a great bike to sit between the Norco Optic and Norco Sight. The Fluid FS doesn't have some of the higher end options like carbon frames and Gravity Tune, where geometry is tuned to suit every bike size.
We've got 5 models landing in Australia, from the top Norco Fluid FS1 with SRAM NX Eagle, WTB i29 rims and a RockShox Revelation and Deluxe R suspension match up. It sells for $3199, which is incredible value for the build and modern geometry.
All the bikes have SRAM 1x drivetrains, RockShox suspension, dropper posts and rims with a 29mm internal width. Wider is better, as we know!
There are two women's models, and they have a medium in 27.5", and just a medium available in 29". Prices start at $2399. The Fluid FS looks to be an ideal range to look at for making the most of the booming trail building around Australia. Get on, get the suspension setup dialled - and get out and ride!
