On Sunday 5th June more than 200 local mountain bike riders will take on Australia’s best for their chance to qualify for the Mountain Bike World Enduro Series.
This is one of two events taking place in Australia which allows riders to pick up points and earn their chance at riding on the world stage.
This forms part of the WA Gravity Enduro Series (WAGE), which has been running now for 3 years. WAGE events are timed on the decent only, allowing riders to make there way back to the top of the hill, riding 3 – 6 stages within a sit time period. Popularity for this discipline of Mountain Biking has taken off around the world, mixing Cross Country riders with Downhillers in what is an exciting style of racing.

It is the first time Western Australia will host the Enduro World Series Qualifier, and local rider Sam Rubery, 18 years old is a favourite for a top three position in Chittering having grown up in the Perth Hills and dominating past WAGE events.

“I’m hoping to pick up enough points to be able to have a crack at the world series next season. It’s going to be challenging as there are a heap of pro riders travelling from the east coast to compete,” Sam said.

The event will take place in Chittering, on private property where Three Chillies Design have built 5 new trails to test the ability of riders of all levels.
Entry to the event is free and racing starts from 9:30am. More information can be found at www.wagravityenduro.org.
Entries close Tuesday 31st May if you would like to participate – spectating is free so head out for the action!
