These bites are high in carbohydrates, full of antioxidants from the cacao and protein from your desired protein powder. I like to use a vanilla or natural flavoured protein. Beetroot is packed with nitrates which your body converts to nitric oxide, a molecule that enhances blood vessel dilation, increasing your blood flow capacity and lowering the amount of oxygen your muscles need. Some endurance athletes swear by beetroot juice or powders to increase their athletic performance. Even if this isn’t the case, beetroot is a good source of manganese, potassium and folate.
*Beetroot powder can be found at health food stores and online.
