Gravity Enduro is undoubtedly the darling of modern mountain bike racing. With the focus on casually riding uphill, then hammering down to try and beat your mates, Enduro racing resonates with a huge part of the mountain biking community.

As bikes become more capable, trails get rowdier and bikes built for ultra-technical terrain perform at the cost of climbing efficiency. Anyone who has raced a hilly Enduro on a 160mm+ trail bike can attest to that!

It’s no wonder then that eBike Enduro racing (or E-Enduro) is having a moment. As eBikes become more powerful, the capacity for off-piste adventures intensifies and more riders can make it all the way up those impossible climbs, rewarded with sweet technical descents.

All the fancy new upgrades to Bosch’s Performance Line CX system

For the Bosch Beyond the Bike Park this issue, I took a Bosch Performance Line CX equipped Cube Stereo to Hiddenvale’s newest gravity trails at the Renegade Gravity Enduro series in southeast Queensland to explore what makes Bosch the pick of the crop for E-Enduro performance.

Performance Line CX and SX Updates

Bosch has always committed to pushing the limits of e-mountain bike technology, and their latest updates to the Performance Line CX deliver a serious boost to Enduro racers.

The new Performance Line CX offers increased torque – up to 100Nm – and smoother, more natural power delivery with up to 400% support. This means riders can tackle steep, technical climbs without losing traction or feeling like the bike is fighting them.

Combined with the new Bosch Kiox 400C display, riders have real-time access to navigation, battery status, and power modes right at their fingertips, simplifying race-day strategy and letting you focus on riding.

Training for Gravity: Getting the Reps In!

Enduro racing demands not just technical skill but endurance and repeated bursts of power over varied terrain. The Bosch CX motor’s powerful but efficient assistance makes training more productive, enabling riders to spend more time on steep climbs and technical features without burning out, leaving you fresher after a liaison to lay down the power on the descent.

Bosch ensures you can get more reps in, faster, without sacrificing the quality of your training.

By using a range of modes from Tour+ to eMTB+, it’s easy to conserve battery and increase your range on the fly. This makes it easier to prepare for the rigours of race day, knowing your motor and battery will deliver throughout.

Power Stages: Where Extended Boost Shines

One of the standout features of the new Bosch Performance Line CX is its advanced torque sensing and overrun control – what Bosch refers to as Extended Boost. The motor responds instantly to your pedal input, delivering torque smoothly and predictably with a 2m overrun – crucial for maintaining traction and control on steep, loose terrain.

Power and Control for E-Enduro Racing

And critical for those racing E-Enduro with ‘power’ climb stages.

The Extended Boost feature in eMTB and eMTB+ modes reduces drag when you’re not pedalling, letting you glide through flat or climbing sections with ease while maintaining a natural feel. This balance between powerful assistance and natural feel is a game-changer for gravity riders who need to quickly shift between climbing and descending, or who encounter unexpected obstacles on the trail that need a quick ratchet of power and the full length of the Extended Boost overrun to navigate.

Set Yourself Up for Race Success: Race Route Navigation and Battery Life with Flow

The Bosch Flow app is another tool that elevates the Performance Line CX experience. It allows riders to plan race routes, monitor battery consumption, customise riding modes to suit specific trail profiles, along with plenty more features.

By preloading the race route — including liaison stages — and using the range estimator on the Flow app, you can save your legs as much as possible on the liaison climbs, confident you have enough legs and energy left for styling it up on the descents.

Between the Bunting: How Increased Output and Kiox 400C Lead to Your Best Day on the Race Track

At Hiddenvale’s Renegade Gravity Enduro, the combination of Bosch’s latest motor tech and intuitive display really shone through. The increased torque helped power through steep, punchy climbs with confidence. The Kiox 400C provided clear, quick data feedback that kept me in control without distraction.

Whether it was fine-tuning power modes between stages or gliding smoothly through technical downhill sections, Bosch’s seamless integration of power, control, and information gave me the edge to focus fully on riding my best lines.

Why Bosch Is Perfect for Racing Enduro

For riders chasing gravity-fuelled thrills and race results, the Bosch Performance Line CX’s upgrades make it a top choice. The motor’s refined power delivery, combined with smart tech like the Kiox 400C and Flow app, means you spend less time worrying about mechanical limits and more time riding at your peak.

In Enduro racing, where every second counts and technical terrain tests both skill and stamina, Bosch equips riders with the tools to push harder and recover faster. The motor’s blend of power, precision, and efficiency perfectly matches the demands of modern Gravity Enduro.
