Bike Check: Jordan Prochyra's Rocky Mountain Altitude
GreyZone Pirate Life Racing's Jordan Prochyra's bike is a little different to the others at the National Downhill Championships.
When you have an Enduro race the weekend before a MTB National Championship, it's to be expected that riders will stay for the whole 10 days. Travelling with bikes is expensive and time consuming, so it's also no surprise to see a few single crown forks cutting laps on the Downhill course.
26 year old Jordan Prochyra has made the trip from Perth, WA, to race in Elite Men at the National Downhill Championships – he was second in seeding. In a way it's a happy COVID story, with a rider from a state that was slammed shut visiting another that was slammed shut. It's easy to joke, but this event is just super lucky to be happening. And the general vibe of everyone in town reflects that – it's a good vibe.
So looking at Prochyra's Rocky Mountain Altitude C90, it's a bit obvious – it's not a pure downhill bike. Sure, a modern Enduro bike is really capable. But in general there's a reason that downhill racers still use downhill bikes. They're more capable again. Josh Button was also on an Enduro bike and finished 3rd in seeding. Maybe the more agile bike was better in the wet today? Maybe fast is fast?
Prochyra races for GreyZone Pirate Life Racing – they have a long list of sponsors, from Pirate Life Beer (yeah – we know, how good) to Rocky Mountain Australia, Shimano Australia, 100 Percent, PRO Bike Gear, Pirelli, Galfer, Krush Oz, DT Swiss Australia, Aftershokz, Wahoo, Wicked Campers (that's handy as well) and FE Sports. That sounds like a pretty complete program.

Any specific mods for Maydena to your bike or setup?
There's an extra 5mm spacer to raise stack height for the front end, and and extra volume spacer in the fork and shock.
The suspension settings also got soe attention, with rebound slowed down for both high and low speed on the fork by one click. Details count!
