AMB Issue #216 Is Out Now

From Swiss Alps adventure to new bike tech and global racing, Issue 216 explores where mountain biking is heading next

The latest issue of Australian Mountain Bike has landed, and Issue 216 pulls together a solid mix of adventure stories, gear testing, global racing and a look at where riding is heading next.

At the heart of this issue is a trip to the Swiss Alps, where Anita and Caro Gehrig take on a multi-day family expedition through high alpine terrain. It’s not just about big descents and big views, it’s a look at how riding can shift when you slow things down and share it with the next generation.

Back on home soil, there’s no shortage of gear to dive into. We’ve been putting a range of bikes through their paces, including the Velduro Rogue e-bike out of New Zealand, Norco’s new Search gravel bike, and the Focus Thron fitted with Bosch’s ABS system. That last one in particular raises some interesting questions around braking control and how much tech we actually want filtering into trail riding.

On the global stage, Issue 216 looks ahead to South Korea, which is gearing up to host the opening round of the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. It’s a fresh destination for the series, and a sign of how far the sport continues to expand beyond its traditional strongholds.

There’s also a broader look at how mountain biking has evolved to where it is now, and where it might be going next. From changing bike design to the ongoing debate around wheel sizes, yes, even the possibility of 32-inch tyres gets a run.

As always, AMB brings together travel, tech, testing and perspective in one place. Whether you’re chasing new trails, eyeing off your next bike or just keeping up with where the sport is heading, Issue 216 has something worth digging into.
