First Look At Trek Aeolus AirLoom Saddle

Trek’s new Aeolus AirLoom Saddles Promise Comfort Without Compromise

AMB Editorial Team 28.09.2025

Today, Trek has launched into the lattice saddle market with the release of the new generation of Aeolus saddles, now equipped with cutting-edge AirLoom technology. Already ridden to success by professional athletes Trek Factory Racing-Pirelli XC, the redesigned saddles claim a new level of comfort and performance for riders chasing speed, endurance, and efficiency.

For Trek, the key feature upgrade is AirLoom — a 3D-printed lattice matrix designed to deliver precise support under the sit bones while offering flexibility under soft tissue. Trek states that by eliminating the need for traditional foam, AirLoom reduces pressure points, friction, and saddle sores, moving seamlessly with the rider’s motion.

Trek Factory Racing’s Riley Amos described the Aeolus RSL AirLoom as “by far the most comfortable saddle I’ve ever ridden,” while gravel and MTB racer Haley Hunter Smith praised its performance over grueling multi-day races in the Life Time Grand Prix, noting the absence of sit bone pain and soft tissue discomfort.

The Aeolus saddles also have an updated, race-refined shape developed with rider feedback and “pressure mapping” technology. Key changes include a narrower nose, reduced transition-zone material, and a lengthened sloped section for improved aerodynamics and reduced thigh rub.

We have previously tested the Fizik Argo R3 Adaptive saddle and the Specialized Power Pro with Mirror 3D printed saddles with mixed results, we found the Fizik fine to use, without discomfort but also not remarkable, we really gelled with the Specialized Power Pro with Mirror.

We are excited to see that Trek are offering four models of the Aeolus with AirLoom technology: the ultralight 165g Aeolus RSL AirLoom and very light 170g Aeolus Pro AirLoom as well as the Elite AirLoom and Elite Foam models – with the updated Aeolus profile in a traditional foam construction. Trek will offer 135mm, 145mm and 155mm widths across the RSL and Elite AirLoom variants, with the Pro and Foam models offered in 145mm and 155mm.
